The painting depicts a traditional royal palace in Ghana, adorned with very old traditional symbols and artifacts rich in history. The painting is divided into three sections. The far right has a purple background with a touch of blue and features two Adinkra symbols: Sankofa, which signifies learning from the past, and Adinkrahene, a symbol of authority, leadership, and charisma.
The middle part portrays an antique form of mask, showcasing various patterns and colors including yellow, red, brown, and blue. At the top, there is also a chevron bead that has been used by all civilizations for centuries.
The last part, on the left section, presents two different symbols: Nkyinkyim, representing the tortuous nature of life’s journey and the toughness, versatility, and dynamism required to thrive in it.
Additionally, the second symbol takes inspiration from a Kuba rug and a woven Kente sash.
